The workings of a Las Vegas casino were all too familiar to Jessica Anne James. The smoke-filled rooms. The smell of bourbon. The clink of chips as they scuttled across felt-covered tables. Since her father had gambled away their family's savings and property, Jessie had avoided casinos. But tonight, the stakes were different. The deed to Golden Dreams, a Nevada ghost town, had been offered in lieu of a wager. This was Jessie's chance to win back her family's pride.

But before she could make her offer, one of the players called the hand and the tables were turned. Golden Dreams now belonged to Bart Cody, a dark, handsome gambler dressed in black. Although the glimmer in Cody's blue eyes made Jessie's heart race, she refused to be charmed by a good-looking, smooth-talking gambler. Golden Dreams was going to be hers--no matter what the price.

Bart Cody wasn't quite sure what to make of Jessica James. Was she lady luck, this woman with honey-gold hair and flashing green eyes? She had brought him luck in a hand of poker. But now that he'd won the ghost town, Bart was determined to check the place out. Perhaps the lot contained valuable minerals--gold, uranium, and silver--his specialties. He had to find out what her game was and what kind of hand she held before he could trust a woman named Jessie James.
