Ghostly Carnival

Mary Williams once again presents an inimitable collection of ghost stories to bring a chill to the staunchest spine. Cornwall is again their setting, for Cornwall is as variable in its moods—from the sinister and macabre to the fey and fanciful—as are her stories. There is the isolated cottage so apparently perfect for John and Blanche Farrow—until they had lived there some months to discover there were other dwellers in that deserted woodland; and in contrast we meet Mrs Porter and Mrs Jolly, two elderly ladies enjoying a brief break at the seaside and deciding to take a hand in arranging the town carnival—a rather unusual carnival...
