To Jacqui, just out from England, Australia was a real land of dreams—and the most dreamlike was the Outback. Some people might have found it too large and empty, but when Jacqui went to work as a governess at Kiah station, she loved it from the first moment.

It was not long before she realised that she loved Alain Hollington, her employer, too—but that was where Jacqui's dreams did not look like coming true!
