Sophia is a trans woman who works as a gatekeeper, guarding one of the many rifts between her world and another dimension. She deals with mental illness and chronic pain, problems compounded by her nightly watch. But she doesn't do it alone - by her side are Lethe, her giant mutt of a dog, and Abigail, a witch and her girlfriend. This is the story of one day of her life.

Elizabeth R. Mills is a lesbian author living in Massachusetts. Her goals include adding "with her dog" to the previous sentence. Her primary focus is queer modern fantasy in which the lesbians don't have to die, because the world needs more stories like that.
