Detective Nick Butler has no intention on ever getting involved in another relationship after his ex-wife took half of his fortune in a nasty divorce. He's perfectly fine living alone and single, without having to worry about a girlfriend or wife to come home to. At least, that what he tells himself nightly. That is, until a case lands in his lap, forcing him to work closely with a woman who stirs something inside of him he thought he closed off years ago.

Heather Hardewick is a woman in need of help. Someone is stalking her and they've made their intent on doing her harm loud and clear with a threatening message. She finally finds a detective who will listen to her pleas, but there's only one problem. She finds herself attracted to him, throwing caution to the wind when it comes to her safety. But should she trust another man after she caught her ex in bed with another woman? Who's to say he won't do the same?

Can Nick find the person who's threatening to kill Heather before the man strikes? What does Heather do when her overprotective brothers show up to force her back home for her own safety? How can she leave when she's found a man she wants to open herself up to again?
