A starship from a distant galaxy abandons a lone male humanoid in the Mojave Desert, who has assumed the designation of Jake Stone. As the females of his world are now extinct, he has come to the earth in hopes of finding a new home and a compatible mate to continue his species. He befriends a human female in Carlsbad, New Mexico, but all too quickly everything turns sour. Unaccustomed to the females on this new world, Jake is caught off guard when the pretty female comes on to him, suddenly arousing him to dangerous heights. With no time to prime her to his unique molecular structure, she is instantly incinerated in a ball of fire. Immediately leaving the scene of the dead woman's ashes, Jake moves on to Odessa, Texas, where he finds a room for rent and meets Helena Saunders, the woman he desires to become his mate....
