The two sisters were called Hagar and Yoni -- heathen names given them by the gypsy tribe that stole them as babes and raised them as helpless hostages to fortune. Now the two girls had escaped their nightmare captivity. Desperately they fled through a landscape of danger in a 17th-century England where women were burned as witches and men ruled as ruthless lords.
