Stanley Stayton, head of the Stayton Advertising Agency, was trying to make up his mind whether to fire Molly Hubbard -- the best copywriter on the West Coast -- or marry her. Molly was interested in Stayton as a marriage prospect too...but not for herself, but for her pretty widowed sister-in-law Martha. If ever a woman needed a man to look after her, it was Martha, the con man's dream. She'd spent a fortune on such nonproductive projects as an angleworm farm, a dog kennel, an antique shop -- and now a rundown ranch which used to grow fruit and nuts but these days grew nothing but weeds. Stayton, the agency's top salesman, Benjy Carr, and "mystery man" William John Jones -- Molly steered them all Martha's way, only to discover that the man most likely to tumble is the one she has fallen in love with herself...
