Frances and the Cowboy - Part I

Cowboys and Lawyers and Love.Frances Archer had been so proud of how well she'd done in college and in law school. Well, not actually completed. She had completely blown her course on torts and would not be allowed to write the bar exam until she redid it online over the summer. The problem was, she was broke. The plan was to graduate using her scholarship money, but now with the extra course, Frances would have to get a job while she finished it. She had tried applying at several law firms, but most of them had special money set aside for new graduates, and none of them wanted a failure. Frances was afraid she would have to move back in with her parents in Portland, Oregon, to finish up her course if she did not find a job soon. I guess waitressing might have to do for now, she thought, hoping something with better hours and higher pay would pop up soon. She'd made a few friends here and really liked the idea of staying near Houston. There were also great opportunities for her to get a Corporate Law position after she finally did graduate.Her best friend, Taylor, takes her out of town for a weekend to a local roadhouse cowboy bar, and the two of them have a great evening dancing and drinking, surrounded by doting cowboy gentlemen. Frances notices a handsome cowboy drowning his sorrows sitting at the bar, looking very sad. At the end of the night, intoxicated, they need a ride back to their motel, and the handsome sad cowboy gives them a ride.Frances finds out that he is a widower, and one who is looking for help around his farm. Is this the answer to her prayers? A job, time to study and take that blasted class while still getting to stay in Texas…and maybe even a little fun on the side with this gorgeous country hunk of a man. She has the entire summer to find out!
