Lora Winters had caught her boyfriend having an affair with his secretary. In an effort to get away from him and think about their relationship, she headed for her grandfather's ranch in the foothills above Denver. With tears in her eyes and wet roads, she lost control of her car on a curve and slid into a canyon. Mark Howard found Lora lying under a tree next to his driveway. She was cold, wet and injured. He took her to his ranch house and cared for her until she could be taken to a hospital. He was fascinated by her and started visiting her in the hospital, but the timing was bad. Mark was ending a relationship with a woman when he found Lora. Mark's ex-girlfriend didn't take rejection very well causing him trouble. And Lora's ex-boyfriend didn't want to let her go. The problems both of them were having with their ex's caused problems between Mark and Lora, preventing them from developing a romantic relationship for themselves.
