Forbidden Promises

Over the years of writing Mermaid stories the different races have evolved from two to quite a few. This work introduces yet another peek into another Mermaid race and how it came to be. While that may be only part of this story it is not the main part of the plot. There is no real law in the world of Mermaids; but there is one unwritten one that tradition holds to be upheld: the mating of a Womer Mermaid with a Merman. This is called "Forbidden Promises" and is obeyed for a reason. The resulting baby is a Shaamer, a beautiful race in itself, but not a baby that the deadly Womer can raise. At a loss as how to raise a baby different from herself, another young Shaamer Mermaid is called in to help. The resulting bond between a ten year old Shaamer and the runaway baby is the main portion of this tale of tails. It has its sweet moments and its sour ones as well. What it does not have is a lack of imagination.
