When Sera becomes twenty years old, she learns that she is a Chosen princess come of age, one of eight Chosen Ones who oversee the worlds, representing the different humanoid species - fairies, pixies, witches, elves, nymphs, vampires, hazers and humans. Each princess is protected by their male equivalent with whom they are expected to fall in love, but Sera only views her protector, Sam, as a brother, not as a prospective lover, and anyway Sam is already besotted with the vampire princess. There is a strict law against the princesses combining with protectors of another species as their combined power will threaten the balance of the whole, but this does not stop Sera falling in love with the elfin protector, nor the pixie protector being interested in her. However, now that the wizard Melcadorf has captured the pixie princess, Nermina, it is rumoured that he is preparing to attack them directly with a large mixed-species army in a bid to become all-powerful. Will Sera be able to get up to speed to play her part in defending the worlds against Melcadorf, and will she find a way of being united with Keelor, the elfin protector, without their both being banished forever?
