About This Book

It’s the end of the school year, vacation is just around the corner, everyone is ready for summer, and high school student Alex feels like he’s living the longest week of his life. If he doesn’t pass his exams, he’ll fail his classes and say goodbye to vacationâ€"and hello to summer school.

So when Alex passes his classes by the skin of his teeth and can breathe a sigh of relief, the last thing he wants to hear is that his father’s found summer employment for him. Working at the boathouse in Flushing Meadows sounds like a drag, and Alex imagines himself selling hot dogs with losers while his friends earn piles of money at cooler jobs.

But the boathouse turns out to be better than Alex imagined, and each day he finds himself doing something new. His coworkers turn out to be hilarious and awesome, and over the course of the summer, they bond while sharing adventures and stories.

By the end of the summer, Alex hasn’t just saved enough money to buy a carâ€"he’s kissed a girl, tasted his first drink, and had the time of his life.
