About This Book

The sequel to The Autobiography of Ziggy Deer. Ziggy is on the brink of her journey to find a door that fits her key. She is still in love with Marc Olinska, still afraid her personality will suddenly take the reins of her carefully constructed chariot and crash her into the sun. To help her along she has her usual ancestral ghosts plus the arrival of new family members she didn’t know she had and a collection of amazing new friends. As Ziggy steps out on the road that will take her to a special kind of freedom, she still keeps wanting to look back and take the past with her. She decides that she will rewrite the book she planned when she was younger and when she does so she receives wise advice from the family witch and the chance to write another book that will bind her journey to the journey of another. Along the way many questions will plague her, many words zoom round in her head, this time joined by ideas. As she learns how to translate images into words, capture time in her imagination and make people from ordinary life live forever in fiction, she also finds out how to fly. Does Ziggy finally succeed in conquering the monsters of her own creative imagination, connect herself to Marc and escape to tell the tale? Is reality as strange and wonderful as any dream and is Ziggy destined to travel through life the way she travels through a special lady’s garden? Are friends better than anything money can buy? As she enters each experience Ziggy realises that she is discovering how the web of the world works and how each thread is a journey and each bead a life and that when all are strung together the cosmos happens in the manifestation of a single family and its friendship circle. Trying to escape just brings us closer to what we fear and facing what we fear brings us out into the arena of the fantastic where we can choose to see or not to see the spectacle that is existence and, most importantly, where we can do battle with our demons and live through.
