Sandy (Elijah Wood) can't believe his misfortune. He's being forced to spend the summer on an island with his weird Uncle Porter (Paul Hogan). Adding insult to injury, the trip will mean missing the concert of the year.

Just when it seems his summer can't possibly get worse, Sandy meets Flipper—and everything changes.

Sandy and Flipper begin an amazing friendship. They meet Kim, a local girl, and an electronics whiz named Marvin. Together, they take on the island's hostile fishing industry when they uncover an environmental hazard in the ocean.
