Flight of the Sparrows

Everyone is atwitter in Copper Mill, when a flock of rare sparrows is expected to land at Best Acres, a bird sanctuary owned by the reclusive Artie Best. A festival is planned to honor the extraordinary birds, and for Kate, the bird-watching season also brings a happy reunion with her high-school English teacher, avid birder Bonnie Mulgrew, and a mystery that only Kate can solve. A week before the big event, the rare birds are nowhere to be seen. What has happened to the entire flock? With only a cursory knowledge of birds, can Kate help recover them before masses of shocked sparrow-watchers arrive? As Kate and Bonnie hunt for clues, the elusive Artie begins to raise suspicions, and the odd behavior of several folks in town lead them to believe there's something bigger than birds that is wrong in Copper Mill. Meanwhile, Paul has taken to the air himself—in the jump seat of fellow pastor Gregory Lucas' private plane. As everyone in town lifts their eyes to the skies, can they find answers for all of God's creatures?
