New Orleans divorce attorney Bullock Stockwell hasn't earned the nickname "Pit Bull" for nothing. But assuming responsibility for his five-year-old niece Margaret has softened Bullock, and when beautiful pediatrician M.K. Channing arrives in his office to give a deposition in his latest case, he can't deny his attraction to her. Lust and love are two separate animals, however--or at least that's what Bullock thinks--until he runs into M.K. at Margaret's school and finds himself considering partnership...the romantic kind.

M.K.'s memories of her own painful divorce make her immediately wary of most men, especially lawyers. Sexy, arrogant Bullock seems to be everywhere she turns, including the school principal's office, where M.K.'s son Danny has been scrapping with another kindergartner to protect gentle Margaret. And when the persuasive principal ropes Bullock and M.K. into organizing the Fourth of July picnic, M.K. is secretly intrigued by the idea of spending time with the attractive attorney. But choreographing active five-year-olds in a patriotic skit will be child's play compared to fighting the desire that threatens to ignite like Roman candles whenever they're together.
