About This Book

Long-form journalist Matthew Hayes, a native of the small town of Deertrack, Georgia, heads back to his hometown ten years after the tragic event referred to in the media as the Delta Heights Massacre. In this retrospective, Matthew interviews numerous survivors of the assault, examines life in the town just after the assault and compares it to now, ten years down the road, and tries to contemplate for his readers precisely what prompted the duo of teenaged boys responsible for the events to do what they did. Matthew even manages to secure an agreement for an interview with the perpetrator who survived the eventual showdown with authorities on that day, Aaron Sitanski, who has never spoken about the event on record.
