Forty days with brooding Mayor Rome D'Amore shouldn't be too difficult, right? Becca Spencer has never spent too much time in one place, so when she takes on the task of being Rome's fake fiancée, she must ignore her restlessness and give it her all. She won't let Rome, mucky aura and all, or the town of Prospect down...for a number of reasons. But the more time she spends in this cozy little town with the gorgeous mayor, the more she wonders if forty days could turn into forever.

Rome can't seem to get his ex-wife, Eve, out of his life and out of his mind. It's almost as if the wicked woman cast a spell on him. Now that Eve's remarried and determined to ruin his life, he has no choice but to trust in the beautiful, eccentric Becca to help him get reelected. Pretending to be Becca's fiancé has its upside, of course, but trust isn't something that ever came easy to Rome. Finally breaking away from his past might just be what he needs to get over Eve, but what will the future hold?
