Part III of the epic fantasy Windflower Saga trilogy set in a late medieval world entering its industrial age. A victim of conspiracy that reaches to the highest levels, Tribune Loris Kennet of Pomerania is unjustly stripped of rank and position in the elite Royal Winged Cavalry. They become friends and, in the process, Loris falls in love with Keridwen and wants their pretend marriage to become a real one. However, she will not agree until he clears the dishonor over his name. That requires that Loris chase after pirates and the remnants of their victims, to bring them to justice. The romance between Loris and Keridwen is sweet and tender.
