A stranger at home since her father's remarriage, Gabrielle Wickersham was glad to accept her Aunt Nelda's invitation to visit her Berkshire estate. The relaxed routine of Amory Court, where horseback riding was the most strenuous activity, would give "Wickie" the chance to think about what to do with her life. But Amory Court turned out to be more eventful than expected. For one thing, there were two handsome young men around to compete for Wickie's attention: Brad Rutledge, a research scientist working on a "secret" project in the old carriage house, and Don Faraday, the son of a neighbor. But while Wickie found both men intriguing, she was even more fascinated by the legend of the lovelorn maiden, Popo-natel, whose ghost supposedly haunted the area. No one really believed the story until one night Popo-natel walked again...leading Wickie first toward danger, then to the promise of love...
