About This Book

Young Bill Wilder is devastated when he learns that his older brother, a naval aviator, is brutally murdered by a sadistic KGB agent in a North Vietnamese prison. He swears to avenge his brother's death, despite objections from his father, who is in the CIA hierarchy.

An insane Ivan Petrov is bent on the destruction of the Wilder family after his own father is arrested by the British as a spy. After executing the oldest of the Wilder sons, he sets his diabolical plan in motion to kill Bill Wilder's entire family.

Wilder and his friend, John Slaughter, both encounter their own version of hell in Vietnam. Wilder must survive in the jungles while being hunted by the Vietcong. Slaughter risks his life to save Wilder's girlfriend, a UPI correspondent in Saigon. A secret turn of events then helps Wilder discover Petrov's true identity.

The hunt begins.

The climax leads to the top of Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, where the story began years before on August 4, 1964. It is also the date the Gulf of Tonkin Incident took place that escalated the Vietnam War.
