Edwina Charles, aka Madame Adele Herrmann, the clairvoyant, finds herself in a race against time to prove the innocence of her brother - the eccentric Punch and Judy children's entertainer, Cyril Forbes - when he is accused of the brutal murder of the celebrity pop-rock star, Judith Caldicott.

With the exception of his sister, there is little doubt in the minds of everybody else living in the village of Little Gidding, and the police, that Cyril had the perfect motive for viciously slashing Judith's vocal chords.

Judith had the world at her feet, everything to live for. She was young, beautiful and sexy, and at the top of her profession. There was just one problem. She wanted out. But letting go wasn't that easy and when she returned to her parents' home in Gidding and sought the help of Mrs Charles, the clairvoyant warned her repeatedly of the dark shadow and lurking danger she could see in the tarot cards. A threat hidden deep in Judith's past.

Judith ignores both Mrs Charles's warning and her advice that she should return to London and deal with her troubles there where she will be safe from the threat that is hanging over her. It was the future that concerned Judith... And she paid for that mistake with her life.
