Evie speaks as an authentic child with real-life problems--some only perceived as a tween and others which are true to life—and children will easily relate to her winning character. As an Army brat myself, I LOVED that the heroine of this book is the daughter of a soldier, too. I can't think of any other children's book where that's the case.
