Still reeling from her husband's sudden death, and the miscarriage of their baby, Eva Douglas struggles to find her bearings as the world she has known ceases. At a Hollywood premiere for her latest film, she has a public breakdown, which brings together her unconventional family. Overwhelmed and unclear about her future, Eva abandons Hollywood for an island off the coast of Washington, to the beaches she ran as a child. This charming, unaffected town promises to help protect and guide her as she begins to find her own way . . . because sometimes in order to begin again you have to leave all that is familiar behind.
