Essence of Trust

After parting with her last boyfriend, Kate's freedom is short-lived. On meeting Michael, a handsome connection from her past, she gains nothing from the relationship but danger, secrets, and upheavals when he is accused of embezzling money from his company. Michael's imprisonment brings a temporary but painful separation. 


Pregnant and alone, Kate looks for a new way to support herself and the baby. The farm she inherits marks a change in her life. She puts all her effort into learning how to look after the neglected property and make it a successful venture.


With the help of two Native Australian friends, Jimmy and Rose, she is strong enough to face the challenges life throws at her, including the threats and harassment from the men intent on destroying Michael and cheating her out of the land. Their threats are based on the knowledge that Michael has  information, which, when decoded, will exonerate him and expose their illegal business dealings. 


Kate starts a local co-op, becoming an important member of the community. When Michael is freed, their life together is strained and difficult, despite the strong feelings they still have for one another. Michael cannot forget why he lost 2 years of his life and his sound reputation. Finally, the damning information is retrieved with the help of his friends, and the culprits are punished. 


Natural disasters affect the farm, and fighting them slowly brings Kate and Michael together. The small community that has grown around them provides companionship and support for the pair, and though their life is not without the hardships caused by nature, they are content.
