About This Book

Espy is a young woman imprisoned for a heinous murder, one she can scarcely admit to herself that she committed—the murder of her best friend. Angry because he tried to seduce her, violating her trust in him, Espy snapped, and years of anger at the way people treated her culminated in one awful act that she could never undo. During her incarceration, Espy is forced to face her own shortcomings, including an inability to cope with crisis, and to recognize her strengths, like her refusal to succumb to abuse. Espy meets several inmates facing the same challenges and choices during her journey, including her nemesis Jo and her champion Amy. Together, they explore the good and evil inside us all, while making both conscious and subconscious choices that bring some of them closer to—and others further from—the redemption every one of them so desperately needs.
