Having returned to Rochester after meeting Felia's family, Clover learned from her father about how the mother she thought she would never be able to speak with again is a spirit in the Lower World. Putting together plans to journey into the Lower World, the women who have come together to become a family set off into the Lower World with the help of Lylilith, the succubus who is one of the wives living with Samantha – Felia's best friend. Working their way through the Lower World, the group of women are tested before they reach the realm in the Lower World where Persephone lives six months out of the year. It is in this realm where the spirit of Clover's mother lives, having become a worshiper of the Greek goddess back when she was alive, and living with her husband and daughter.
