Zak Bates, Ra-Kit the Magic Cat, and Sampson the Flying Dog are on another eco-adventure that takes them first to the Illinois River, where Zak meets Minzhe. According to Ra-Kit, Minzhe is the oldest, wisest and orneriest Asian Silver Carp alive today.

They then travel to the Florida Everglades, where Zak is introduced to Ohnmar: a large and angry python that was released to the wilds by his owner. Minzhe and Ohnmar teach Zak an important lesson that he'll need to call upon when the three travelers are called to an emergency in Ohio.

A large group of wild and potentially dangerous animals have escaped from a private preserve, and the situation threatens to spiral out of control despite Zak and his team's best efforts.
