Six long generations of the Eberhart family have lived in snowy Erie, Pennsylvania -- so far. Max Eberhart had emigrated from war-torn Germany in 1871, and established the proud American branch of the family tree there. Thus begins the epic story, narrated by his only daughter, Marta, of a very special ring that is tragically passed down through the family. From generation to generation, its original owner, Ellie, jealously oversees its path, even after her death! This is ultimately a tale of the fateful interaction between spirits and humans -- all vying for possession of this family heirloom -- and of one particular ghost who refuses to relinquish her control over it.
