plural -s
: one that originates or precedes : one that serves as a guide or pattern : originator, precursor

I objected to Adam's use of the word, although it wasn't because the word described us inaccurately, but because he assumed it gave him controlover our reproductive organs. I understood the need to populate Edenwith more of our kind since there were so few of us, so the objectionconcerned his method rather than his desired outcome. Even with thecomplete removal of all liberty and freedom by the Government, a woman's womb had always remained her own property, including her gestatingfetus. Breeding us like animals would not solve our population problemsince it fomented resistance. I had not gained my freedom only to become breeding stock, and I would fight and die if need be to prevent it from happening.
