Guy Milling, an investment banker in the city of London, has a nervous breakdown when his family life collapses. His work suffers and he is given a year’s leave of absence by the bank.
He recuperates by taking employment on an agricultural estate attached to a stately home. All is not as it seems with the management of the estate, and he is intrigued by tales of the Lady Sarah, who went to America after her husband died in mysterious circumstances.
