Earthly Things

Life seems to be getting better for sensitive fourteen-year-old Dexter Bestwick until his older brother Adam has an automobile accident and drowns. While struggling with loss, he discovers his dad has stolen Adam's journal and his girlfriend. Dexter lashes out and steals the journal from his father's locked room. He believes it to be one of the reasons his father strangles him while he and his girlfriend Jamie are at the park one night.

Still around after his death to witness the ensuing damages, he longs for a way to protect his first, young, innocent love from being a victim. Yet he's afraid the eternal light will grow brighter and claim him, and that Jamie will soon suffer the same fate…
