E-mail from Kayenta

For many people the Southwest is a vast desert of unexplored land and Indian tribes. While living and working on the Navajo reservation, the author discovered the richness of the area and its people. Working as a public health/school nurse, she kept a daily journal of reservation life and weekend travels. When sending out group e-mails, the responses of family and friends confirmed her suspicion that the American traveler had only knowledge limited to Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Phoenix. For many of these people the destinations, hikes and interactions with Navajos were uncharted territory. This book weaves personal experiences and insights, through the use of e-mails, of Navajo life and the author's travels through Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado.
