It's 1968. U. S. Customs Special Agent Michael Malevarian descends into the maelstrom of Saigon just before the Tet Offensive in order to bust the American GIs smuggling marijuana out of Thailand and into the United States. And he's not about to allow a rinky dink "war" to get in the way of his crusade to stanch the invasion of lethal narcotics into Western Civilization. But first he must deal with a culture of acid-dosing prostitutes, Thai stick dealing Thai generals, corrupt Vietnamese police, C. I. A. rogue elephants, Chinatown mobsters, and drug dealers from around the world-not to mention his own inept, drunken colleagues at the U. S. Embassy!
