Things were going along just fine, until her husband left her for his flashy assistant. Now, Jessica is making herself over to be the woman she once was... adventurous and free-spirited. Her first step was to get a job in the wine country, leading trail rides through the vineyards. Soon, she's enjoying her new life in the tourist town; wining, dining, and making new friends.

But after a suicidal phone call goes to voice mail, constant danger and excitement confront her. A hike on beautiful Santa Cruz Island turns deadly when she clashes with a smuggler; and then a member of the spirit-world glides into her life. She helps investigate a scandal at the Solvang farmer's market, and tails yet another cheating husband.

Jessica is a strong woman, she has five years patrolling the streets with the LAPD. Her search for a new and improved husband isn't going well. She'll settle for a great boyfriend, but that too, isn't happening. How about a really nice man-friend? We'll have to see how that one works out.
