When Phillipa was little she used to dream the nightmare of the swans - of the looming tower against the dark sky, and the swans staring at her...

Now Philippa is sixteen, and when she and her mother move to Wyckliffe Estates, the condominiums built around the enormous Wyckliffe mansion, the dreams return. And suddenly Philippa is faced with questions she can't answer. Why does the mansion frighten her, and at the same time seem familiar? Why does the manager of the estates act so mysterious? And worse, who is trying to kill her?

Philippa is relieved to have caring, steady Mike for her neighbour, but when she's in the deepest trouble, he pretends nothing is wrong, and soon Philippa realises she can't trust even Mike...
