THE DOCTOR'S DECISION

Annie smiled wanly at Storm, and lifted a thin hand in welcome.

"This is the first chance I've had to get here," he told her, pulling a chair up to the side of the high, narrow bed. "Look Annie—I'd better get said what I came to say."

"I thought you came to see me."

"Well, I did. But, Annie, you've got to let me out of that promise I mad you."

She caught his hand and held it hard. "Storm!" she said tensely, "you won't tell them—you won't, will you, Storm? Please?"

He shook his head. "I'm not going to lie anymore!"
