Diamonds on the Lake

When Kyla arrived to live with her Grandfather Tim near Bassenthwaite Lake, she was astonished to learn that he had already arranged a marriage for her. Such things did not happen in this day and age! Besides, she already had a prospective husband in view!

"Arranged marriages belong to the past!"

Kyla's grandfather seemed unaware of the fact - or chose to ignore it. He claimed his granddaughter needed looking after and his neighbor, Andrew Burnett, a young man he had known for many years, just fitted the bill.

Kyla had never even met Andrew Burnett and besides, her heart belonged to another.

What she couldn't understand was why the very eligible Andrew had ever agreed to such a mad proposal!
