A chance encounter at a ballpark brings two schoolmates together for the first time in more than 50 years. Their lives have taken drastically different paths, and they regard each other as strangers when they begin to chat.

Soon, each man recognizes bits of his own journey in the story his companion is telling. Gradually, they realize the shocking truth, leaving one to defend his unusual situation and the other to ponder what might have been.
