About This Book

Dettweiler's Maid revolves around a woman who is offered the job of god. It is the late 1970's, and Tilda Kerensky is dealing with memories that just won't leave her alone. She tries to ignore the shadows of her past (of which she has only vague and disturbing recollections) by hiding out in a small town in New Jersey, working as a sort-of maid for the Dettweilers, but has to deal with doppelgangers, underground mushroom magnates, mobster beauty queens, and a small bag of spores she thinks she has been asked to deliver to a mysterious man, Noface Seely, in Portland, Oregon. She and her best friend Sarah make a mad dash across the country from relatively safe New Jersey to the west coast, where Tilda is finally confronted by a decision, which literally has cosmic consequences. All in good fun, of course.
