It was too wet for Nellie Drake to enjoy the carnival. She had agreed to meet Lex Lander at the carnival. Nellie wanted to see the magician. Lex Lander arrived, and asked if they could take an early lunch, as the weather is expecting to improve. During lunch, Lex ordered some good books about magic. A horrible crime, had been committed, a young girl had been raped, and murdered. Detective Bulldog was given the case, and as the girl had been working in Lander's Incorporated, the entire staff was questioned.As a result, Lex Lander went after Nellie. It was her ability with magic that saved her. This was the start of several attempts on Nellie's life.Only because of her magic, could she stay alive, and help Bulldog catch more criminals.
