Every Saturday Darcy walks downtown to shop, run errands for Lexi and to see her boyfriend Derek. She is predictable as to time and route. Perhaps too predictable because little does she know she is being watched. A serial kidnapper for lack of a better word has picked out his next victim...Darcy. On this Saturday, however, Jessica is along to help. They shop go to lunch, go see Darcy's boyfriend and to Jessica's surprise they stop by to see the boy Jessica likes. It's getting late and as they head home they are grabbed by a man and woman and thrown into a cargo van.

They end up in a farmhouse and under the control of Drey Compton, a kidnapper and murderer. He has kidnapped in Europe, South America and the U.S. He has been paid and the hostages go free. He has also been accosted by the police and the parents of the kidnap victims and the victims ended up dead. He has no problem killing.

Dr. Mark Spaid is professor of history at Columbia College in St. Louis and resides in Carlinville, IL.
