Death in Darkness

When Detective Sergeant Lee of the Benfield City Police investigates a possible murder, his enquiries centre on the inhabitants of Pycroft Lane and jailbird James Nixon. But Lee is suddenly faced with a bank robbery and the manager is a resident of Pycroft Lane. Then Nixon is found, shot through the head. Lee knows that the key to all three of these events lies in Pycroft Lane, and he finds it with the aid of a woman who is snatched from the brink of death only by an old countryman - and his dog.
