Just because her father happened to be Dean of the Medical School everyone seemed to think that Dr Susan Gilmore had got her new job at Chartmouth General Hospital solely through influence and stringpulling. Perhaps it was inevitable that Bronwen Hughes, whom Susan had beaten for the job, should resent and dislike her - but what business was it of that disagreeable Dr Gareth Williams, who was equally hostile? The pair of them were welcome to each other, Susan decided.
