To New York gumshoe Lenny Schneider, Portland, Oregon, isn't half bad. After all, they have brew pubs. And he can actually see the sky, even from down-town. So what if he has to put up with a few comatose drivers, overly friendly locals, and the doughy substance the Northwesterners call bagels.

Lenny moves in with his buddy Walter, a controversial radio show host at the aptly named KOOK-FM. Counterculture is alive and raging at KOOK, and soon Lenny's embroiled not only in station politics but in murder. Two of Walter's colleagues have been killed with a bayonet from Walter's knife collection, and Lenny may be next on the agenda...
