Daughters of the Evening Star

A ghostly figure walks along the shore near Truelock Manor. Locals call her the Widow. Parents evoke the name of the Widow when they want their children to obey, while others wonder what she's looking for as she stares out at the endless sea. Those who know the history of Truelock Manor believe the Widow is Esther, a servant at Truelock Manor who died with a terrible burden on her heart. One little girl believes the Widow is seeking redemption and is determined to help her restless spirit find peace. Mary Ellen Comstock is a descendant of Felicity Comstock Truelock, the wife of Aaron Truelock. At the time of their marriage in 1823, Aaron's parents had been missing for over twenty years. Felicity is present at the deathbed of Esther, who tells Felicity an unbelievable tale, and begs her to record it so that those in the future will know the story of Stephen and Mercy Truelock. Felicity faithfully records Esther's words in a diary, which finds its way into Mary Ellen Comstock's hands some one hundred years later. The revelations in the diary ignite Mary Ellen's imagination and a deep desire to solve the mystery of Mercy and Stephen Truelock's disappearance turns into a quest. Along with her friends, Peggy and Lizzie, Mary Ellen devises a plan she hopes will free Esther from her earthly bonds and together the girls become The Daughters of the Evening Star.
