Darkness and Light is the story of Sturm's search for his father and Kitiara's years of wanderlust. Five years before war engulfs Krynn, Sturm and Kitiara hitch a ride on a flying ship piloted by a band of professorial gnomes and find themselves crash-landed on, of all places, Lunitari.
