Two American couples travel to this exotic land for an eagerly awaited vacation: three carefree weeks to sail and scuba dive. They are thrilled by the exquisite scenery, the lovely, comfortable boat and the clear, warm water that promises even more extraordinary diving than they had expected.
But when their dive boat is wrecked and they are cast ashore on Apo, the beauty is obscured by terror. For suddenly they are faced with a danger they never could have imagined and somehow they must find a way to avoid disaster; somehow the ocean itself must become the escape that will save their lives.
