Safe in suburbia, Aden thinks his life is far removed from the events of the Eclipse. But his luck is about to run out.

Aden Knight has lived a charmed life. As the son of Pittsburgh's mayor, the Eclipse – the night vampires roamed the earth to prey on the living – seems like a distant memory in his close circle of secret parties and family drama. But when he sneaks out of his house for a night of reckless abandon at a Halloween party, he comes face to face with the horror he missed out on one year ago.

Now a vampire, Aden must decide which world he belongs in, and if being human means letting go of the family he lost, or trying to reclaim the life that was taken from him.

This short story takes place two years before the events of The Scarlet Dagger, allowing readers an inside glimpse of the mysterious Aden Knight.
